Abstract
A study conducted among teachers of initial vocational education and training (IVET)
in French-speaking Switzerland highlighted the controversial role of these socialization
agents in addressing gender equality. The responses of nearly 300 teachers to questions
about modern and traditional sexism scales highlighted statistically significant differences
in gender issues. Some groups of teachers still accept – and probably partly transmit – gender representations, transferring a differential socialization of the sexes to the professional
world.
