Abstract
Several glycosidases secreted by the fungus Aspehgillus nigen have recently been purified and characterized. These enzymes were found to be glycoproteins; and their pH optima ranged from 3.5 to 5.0. We now report the purification of the A. nigen ß-galactosidase from a commercial preparation. The occur-rance of this enzyme in multiple molecular forms has been suggested by earlier work. The aim of this study was to achieve separation and characterization of these isoenzymes.
