Abstract
Our respective research projects examine democratic issues from a variety of angles, with three
three main directions. The first of these focuses on the way in which
the way in which the exercise of citizenship in a democracy is conditioned by access to languages
languages or forms of communication and language varieties. Three projects focus on
this theme:
● Being heard in the city (France)
● Access to the language of power (sub-Saharan Africa)
● Appropriating language as a resource: migrants and social action (Switzerland)
The second focus is on the production of social discourse linking languages and
citizenship, through two projects:
● Discourses on citizenship and migration (Switzerland)
● Discourses on language teaching and the 'feeling of citizenship' (Europe).
Finally, the third focus is on social intervention, with the presentation of
a joint project in Switzerland on the assessment of migrants' skills, from an ethical perspective
from an ethical perspective on language assessment, which is increasingly decisive for migrant
language assessment, which is increasingly crucial to the lives of migrants.
