Abstract
In 1964, Brassens proposed with "Les copains d'abord" a certain conception of friendship. Yves Erard asks how this secular and ordinary conception of fraternity has evolved if we compare it to more contemporary songs on the same theme. What does this evolution say about our current conception of the social contract ? Songs of friendship can also make claims that are both intimate and political. Going a step further, the author will ask whether some friendship songs do not use their musical materiality to transform the song itself into a friend. His goal is not to retrace the history of the song, but rather to consider what kind of experience we have of it when it sets language to music. Far from being small tunes without importance, some songs follow us like friends all life long. They become the soundtracks of our ordinary experiences and as such, have a place in the teaching of everyday French and in the ethical and political education of grownups.
