Abstract
This article considers what thinking about higher education might look like in the perspective of a fully inclusive society of individuals in the 21st century. We mobilise the resources of political philosophy of education serving this prospective ambition. We focus our analysis on three key concepts: individual autonomy, prudence and authority. Thus, we suggest a new understanding of the posture of teaching authority, understanding it first of all as a posture of service. It must indeed allow the trained students to develop their prudential abilities in a changing and problematic world. This also involves the social role of the University.
