Abstract
As part of the management of contemporary disasters, psychological first aid units are often sent to ground zero, with a view to containing psychological impact and reducing risks to public health. This article takes a step back from crisis management models and proposes an analysis of the framework of psychological first aid as far as it establishes a singular space immediately after the incident. Starting from the chaotic and catastrophic figures peculiar to this “reality” clinic, the authors proceed to examine the function of wandering for the subject, considering it as an attempt to inscribe something impossible to say, not to circumvent but to welcome. Breaking with the position of “victim” and the voiceless void, the act of wandering creates a space made up of traces, failures, and itineraries that revive and reorient the subject.
