Abstract
Many patients with HBV or HCV infection are still unaware of their status. Large-scale screening could be useful. We aim to investigate whether large-scale screening for HBV or HCV infection could identify infected individuals. Among 3,000 individuals tested, 7 were HBsAg positive (0.26%), 4 had detectable HBV DNA (0.13%), 12 were HCV-positive (0.44%), 2 had detectable HCV RNA (0.07%). HCV prevalence was always <1% when the study population was stratified by groups of 10 years of age.
