Abstract
Khaled Nezzar, former Algerian minister, was arrested in Geneva in October 2011. He subsequently challenged the criminal proceedings against him and argued that he was entitled to immunity. In its decision released in July 2012, the Swiss Federal Criminal Court emphasized that immunity is not available for international crimes such as war crimes, crimes against humanity, torture or genocide.
