Abstract
This study provides an analysis on the scope of crimes against humanity set out in the Rome Statute in order to permit the International Criminal Court to prosecute and punish perpetrators of eco-destruction during peacetime. Despite the anthropocentric feature of Art. 7 of the Statute, characterized by the absence of explicit reference to environmental damages, it was demonstrated that intentional attacks to the environment can be correlated to CAH through interpretation without violating the principle of legality.
