Abstract
The Jura is a mountain range which stretches from the Haute-Savoie (France) over Switzerland to the German Franconia. An important part is formed by sedimentary limestone and marls. Celestite is a fairly widespread mineral in these rocks and is typical for the Jura. It can be found in quarries and road cuts, and also in natural
exposures. Well crystallized celestites which formed in fissures and rock cavities were used for this morphological study. To our knowledge, no complete work on celestite in the Jura vaudois has been published so far.
