Abstract
Shoulder pain is a common cause for medical consultation and is commonly linked to lesions
of the rotator cuff. They are more often affected than the bony part of the joints themselves.
Rotator cuff calcification (due to BCP crystal deposition) is also a common finding and can
give rise to chronic pain as well as acute inflammatory episodes. In the Anglo-Saxon world
this disease is called "basic calcium phosphate crystal deposition disease" (BCPDD).
Keywords
Shoulder pain, basic calcium phosphate, calcifications, basic calcium phosphate crystal deposition disease, BCPDD
