Abstract
PURPOSE/AIM: To review and illustrate a wide spectrum of diagnostic imaging findings in children presenting with torticollis. To discuss the advantages, limitations and diagnostic pitfalls of each imaging technique used to diagnose torticollis.
CONTENT ORGANIZATION: Definition and causes of torticollis Brief description of the compartments of the pediatric neck Sample cases, review of the imaging findings using various modalities (US, CT, MRI), differential diagnosis and discussion of imaging pitfalls Summary
SUMMARY: Torticollis is a frequent clinical finding in children which may be related to nearly 80 entities. A greater knowledge of the embryology, anatomy and contents of the compartments of the neck is required to recognize the various causes of pediatric torticollis. Careful attention to clinical history and a multimodality imaging approach are very helpful in the diagnosis and management of pediatric torticollis.
