Cette thèse questionne l'idée selon laquelle les métiers techniques du spectacle gagnent, grâce aux innovations technologiques, du pouvoir sur la production de spectacles vivants. Pour ce faire, elle propose d'analyser la professionnalisation en cours de ces métiers en Suisse romande pour montrer que ce processus participe à les stratifier. En se basant sur une enquête de terrain, ce travail retranscrit la structure de l'espace de la technique de spectacle et dévoile les dynamiques qui la modèlent : innovations techniques, institutionnalisation et rationalisation du spectacle vivant et de la technique.
Pour atteindre cet objectif, cette recherche identifie d'abord les institutions et individus à l'origine de la professionnalisation des métiers investigués en Suisse romande et les outils qu'ils mobilisent pour obtenir le contrôle des critères de professionnalité permettant d'entrer dans ces métiers.
Il montre ensuite comment se positionnent, dans cet espace, les individus, les relations qui les lient entre eux, avec Jeurs employeur·se·s et leurs subalternes. Il relate alors la sociogenèse des « vocations techniques », en montrant comment les trois dynamiques évoquées ci-dessus s'imbriquent avec les différentes caractéristiques des travailleur·se·s de la technique pour définir leurs chances objectives de mobilité au sein de l'espace. Cette recherche s'inscrit dans une sociologie de la stratification sociale dans les champs de production de biens symboliques, en étudiant comment les innovations technologiques et les transformations contemporaines de l'action publique portent les inégalités qui caractérisent ces métiers techniques. Elle est ainsi une contribution à la sociologie du travail et des classes sociales, en analysant comment les trajectoires des individus sont « travaillées » par les transformations du monde du travail investi.

This thesis questions the idea that, thanks to technological innovations, the technical professions in the performing arts are gaining power over the production of live shows. To this end, it analyses the ongoing professionalisation of the technical professions in French-speaking Switzerland to show that this process is helping to stratify them. Based on a field survey, this work transcribes the structure of the performing arts technical professions and reveals the dynamics that shape it: technical innovations, institutionalisation and rationalisation of the performing arts and technical crews.
To achieve this objective, this research first identifies the institutions and individuals behind the professionalisation of the trades investigated in French-speaking Switzerland, and the tools they mobilise to obtain control over the criteria of professionalism enabling entry into these trades.
It then shows how the trades investigated are positioned in this space and the relationships that bind them together, with their employers·se·s and their subordinates. It then relates the social genesis of'technical vocations', showing how the dynamics that were identified interweave with the various characteristics of technical workers to define their opportunities of mobility within the space. This researcb is part of a sociology of social stratification in the fields of production of sym olic goods, studying how technological innovations and contemporary transformations tn public action carry the inequalities that characterise these technical professions. It is also a contribution to the sociology of work and social classes, by analysing how the trajectories of mdividuaJs are 'work d' by transformations in the world ofwork.
