Abstract
Background : SWAN 2016 is the first behavioral survey among sex workers (SW) in Switzerland. It is part of the HIV/STI behavioral surveillance system established by the Federal Office of Public Health. Improving knowledge with descriptive statistics on SW allowed identifying priorities for prevention. Sociodemographic data, working conditions and indicators of sexual activity and preventive behavior were analyzed.
Methods : Inclusion criteria included any person aged 18+ who had sex in exchange for money in the last 12 months in Switzerland. The questionnaire was administered by face-to-face interview with a mobile tablet, and was also available online. The questionnaire was available in 7 languages.
