Abstract
Based on multilingual and multisite archival research, this edited book explores the forms, scope and limits of educational internationalism during the Cold War. It unveils a wide range of internationalist initiatives, from scholarship schemes to twinning programs, study trips and school exhibitions, assessing their impact on national educational policies. Taken as a whole, the fifteen essays that comprise the volume demonstrate that the Cold War was a period of intense exchanges, circulation and cooperation, not only within the two blocs but also between and beyond the West and the East. This collective research thus offers a new and original view on one of the most critical moments of 20th-century world history.
