This research investigates the place and the function of other-directed violent acts reaching out lives of others in adolescence from a psychoanalytic perspective. It suggests articulating studies which are considering adolescent act-outs in a framework of symbolization/desymbolization processes (Roman & Dumet, 2009) and those raising the central place of adolescence in the constitution of psychic temporality, the presence of the pubertary event retroactively creating the past (Marty, 2005).
While many studies highlighted the place of early traumas in violent acts, calling the issue of psychic temporality in backdrop, only few studies have specifically investigated the link between violent acts in adolescence and psychic temporality in the context of a coherent time theory. This research points up how the theories of spécial relativity (Einstein, 1905) and their metaphysical extensions can offer an interesting metaphor to support a metapsychological modeling of psychic functioning and sever violent act-out, its articulations with early traumas and its participation in the constitution of psychic temporality.
For this purpose, projective tests (Rorschach test, TAT and free genogram) as well as a clinical investigation questionnaire were used to collect data from 10 adolescents. Results highlight a psychic temporality in pain. Articulated with the investment of spatiality that présents itself here in lack of dynamism, it appears interesting to suggest a four-dimensional modeling of a psychic space-time in order to conceive of the psychic functioning and the place of the violent act.
In the context of the mesarticulation/disarticulation of the psychic space-time found in the sample, the early trauma proves impossible to be located temporally and spatially because of a lack of reference able to fix a present, that is, a "here and now". The trauma then returns to a hallucinatory mode. This research thus suggests that act-out creates in a catastrophic and desperate way a referential echoing puberty that could not be constituted as a structuring landmark for the psyché. The act-out thereby participâtes potentially in the constitution of psychic temporality and opening of the possibility of an après-coup.
