Abstract
Describes observation and assessment scales for the evaluation of autism. Advantages and limitations of the Childhood Autism Rating Scale, the Infant Autism Behavior Evaluation (D. Sauvage et al, 1987), and the Clinical Recognition Grid Method for Childhood Autism (G. Haag et al, 1995) are considered. Use of these instruments is illustrated using the case histories of 2 male preschool children with autism in France. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2004 APA, all rights reserved)
