Abstract
This article studies two great ecological movies by the Japanese animation and Studio Ghibli master Hayao Miyazaki: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) and Princess Mononoke (1997). The methodology used follows the cultural hermeneutic philosophy of education and the political philosophy of education. A first part shows that these works testify of Miyazaki’s early awareness of the main issues of the Anthropocene and its pedagogical concerns. A second part highlights Miyazaki’s constant concern to deploy his ecological thinking in a humanistic register. This proposal may thus be soluble in the autonomous structuring of the human world.
