Abstract
This is a pilot project in the field of palliative care focusing on palliative sedation. As a reminder, palliative care is defined as the following by the World Health Organisation « An approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problem associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual. »
Therefore, palliative care delivers a wide range of medical attention, consisting of nonpharmacological and pharmacological measures, but also last resort interventions such as palliative sedation.
