Based on the results of the National Survey on Sexual Behaviours in France, we find that the clients are not an homogenous group in terms of socio demographics characteristics, sexual activity and in terms of preventive behaviours. The motivation of the clients differs: for some it's one element of a diversified sexual activity, for others it's a way to compensate for an unsatisfactory sexual life. The ability to distinguish the emotional from the sexual and the diversity of their sexual habits would permit clients to more easily integrate new preventive behaviours.
