Résumé
IDHEAP/NCCR-on the move COVID Survey - Data dashboard
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has swept across the globe and severely disrupted lives, economies, and health care systems.
Switzerland has certainly not been spared. Health care institutions needed to be prepared for a potential surge in severe cases requiring treatment in intensive care units (ICUs). Borders to neighboring countries were closed, initially only to Italy and later to Germany, France, and Austria as well. And as social distancing rules forced many businesses to close their doors and cease their activities across the country, many people lost parts or all of their incomes.
We, a team of political and social researchers at the University of Lausanne, wanted to know how the Swiss population was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and how it thinks about the government's responses. We therefore conducted a survey among an online sample of people living in Switzerland between April 22 and May 4, 2020 (1535 respondents) and then again during the second (and more severe) wave in the fall, between November 19 and December 14, 2020 (1498 respondents). Our samples resemble the populations of the German- and French-speaking regions of Switzerland in terms of the distribution of age groups, genders, and educational attainment.
This interactive dashboard presents some key findings and allows you to explore the data yourself. We hope you find this tool insight- and useful, and are of course available for questions or feedback.
