Résumé
A floristic survey of the vascular plants of the Papago Park Military Reservation (PPMR) was conducted from April of 1999 to February of 2001. This area comprises 384 acres and contains undisturbed desert areas. This floristic study is novel in that is used soil germination techniques to elicit germination of annuals that would have otherwise been excluded due to drought; approximately 30 taxa were added to the checklist from the seed bank germination. Overall, 137 species were surveyed across 41 families and 111 genera. One species was a new record for the state; 18 species (13% of the flora) are classified as introduced. Since PPMR is totally surrounded by urban development, this checklist provides baseline inventory information for future studies concerning vegetation change over time in urban areas. This checklist has been deposited in the National Environmental Database of the National Guard.
