Are the diacritical signs of Esperanto contrary to the interests and aspirations of the proletariat? In the early 1920s, Soviet supporters of Ido and Esperanto, two artificial languages with an international vocation, competed for a time about this kind of question. In this article, we intend to analyse the ideas of the linguist Nikolaj Vladimirovič Jušmanov, expressed in articles written in Russian, but also in Ido and Etem, an artificial language developed by Jušmanov himself. We will see that his ideas about the alphabets (which he believes must be precise, organised and rational) fit into the particular context of the ussr in the 1920s when intentions were to erase the past and create new forms.
¿Son los signos diacríticos del esperanto contrarios a los intereses y aspiraciones del proletario? A principios de la década de 1920, los partidarios soviéticos de ido y esperanto, dos lenguas artificiales con una vocación internacional, compitieron por un tiempo sobre este tipo de pregunta. En este artículo, nos proponemos analizar las ideas del lingüista Nikolaj Vladimirovič Jušmanov, expresadas en artículos escritos en ruso, pero también en ido y etem, un lenguaje artificial desarrollado por el propio Jušmanov. Veremos que sus ideas sobre los alfabetos (que él cree que deben ser precisas, organizadas y racionales) encajan en el contexto particular de la URSS en la década de 1920, cuando las intenciones eran borrar el pasado y crear nuevas formas.
