Résumé
The first Christian visual expressions are unquestionably characterized by their immediate character. Images appearing in funerary spaces in the 3rd century are in fact often reduced to a protagonist and some minimal attributes. Schoolars have therefore referred to them as "signitive" or "abbreviated" depictions. Considering their context of creation and their relation to narrative cycles of the Old and New Testaments, this essay aims to offer insights into the origins of this figurative language
