Résumé
With its international organizations, multinational companies and significant economic growth, the Métropole lémanique - extending from Montreux (CH) to Annemasse (F) and encompassing Geneva - has been marked for several years by processes of "super-diversification". These are accompanied by strategies of urban marketing of diversity and performances of belonging. Emblematic for such phenomena, "La Grande Table" in Morges constitutes an event displaying culinary and "multicultural" folklore promoted by local authorities. The celebration is organized by the Swiss-Foreigner Commission of the city every second year and translates the integration politics and visibilization strategies of different communities. Based on interviews and ethnographic observations, we interrogate the way public space is thought, negotiated or consumed by its various actors, from organizers to vendors and performers. We show how this event enables community making by celebrating multiple belonging in public space, ultimately revealing rescaling processes of the global and the local in the making.
