Résumé
In 2001, the Parliament of the Canton and Republic of Geneva introduced
industrial ecology as one of the articles of a new law, establishing
the Local Agenda 21 process. In essence, this article states that
the State authorities should encourage synergies between economic
activities (along the Kalundborg model), in order to minimise environmental
impacts. As a first step, it was decided to perform a total metabolism
study of the Canton (total material and energy flows and stocks for
the year 2000 as a reference). The first results were presented in
June 2003, and will serve as the basis for future action.
