Résumé
Introduction
No study focused between people seen with or without request of police in forensic outpatient clinic. The aim of this study was to analyze the possible specific violence patterns described by the victims seen after request of police and their characteristics.
Patients and methods
Charts of 33 269 patients seen in forensic outpatient clinic between January the 1st, 2004, and December 31st, 2012 were studied. Sex, age, reason and procedure patterns were retrospectively analyzed.
Results
Victims seen with request of police were significantly (P < 0.0001) younger (mean: 32.1 years old) than those seen without request (mean: 34.6 years old). Violence against police and unintentional injuries were almost systematically seen with request of police (96.7 % and 96.1 % respectively). On the other hand, only 28.4 % of the violence acts from the police were examined with request. The number of request of police increased significantly between 2004 and 2012. The number of domestic violence has increased steadily between 2004 and 2012, particularly in 2007 and 2012.
Discussion and conclusion
This study showed that the 2006 law against the domestic violence and the 2011 reform of the French forensic medicine modified the number of requisition procedures in our outpatient clinic.
