In their works Léonora Miano and Bernardine Evaristo articulate new representations of the historical interrelatedness between Africa and Europe. The "newness" of their approach has to do with the well-known post-colonial strategy of "writing back", but not only. Aimed at an audience simultaneously European, African and European, their fiction, plays, and essays also proceed by assigning Africa to the centre and by articulating plots and narratives anchered in history and yet open to a new future. Evaristo and Miano enable their readers to imagine a common future shaped by the centrality of the African experience.
