This chapter deals with the role that the fueros play in Menéndez Pidal’s work as sources for the knowledge of Medieval Spanish history and central Ibero-romance dialects. Furthermore, it examines the editing tasks of the fueros that he and his collaborators undertook in the first decades of the 20th century. Finally, the importance of Fuero Juzgo in his pro-Castilian ideology is weighed.
