From the detai1ed examination of four key areas of Ladakh and Zanskar (NW Himalaya), the autochtonist
hypothesis of the Tibetan zone is absolutely refuted. The nappes and thrusts are reality in Zanskar as well as in
other areas to the N of the main Himalayan Range.
