Résumé
Solidarity is a term with a strong normative charge: "it´s good be a solidarity person". This ethic and normative initial that normally is included in solidarity´s studies, has produced partly the absence of research from the social science to solidarity phenomenon. The little Chilean progress that exists in this sense, has been developed firstly by theoretical works of sociologists that have understood to solidarity as a social and communicative operation destined to maintain people's cohesion in the stratified context of current society; and secondly, by a descriptive measures that has analyzed the solidarity construct in univariate terms. In this paper we´ll get these antecedents to advance in the proposal of a solidarity notion related to its measure in different dimensions of supports conducts, and to its degree of association with different factors from the social stratification scheme that could influence the variation of each dimension. Through an multilevel analysis MANOVA of data from the "Survey of solidarity 2010" (N=1389), generated by the measurement center MIDE UC of the Catholic University of Chile, we conclude that individual variables as the gender and age, and variables of the personal status as the educational level, currently predict the solidarity´s conducts. This suggests that the need for solidarity not only responds to a stratified outlining of modern society, but also that different axes of stratification influence the social dimensions of solidarity.
