The emphasis on leisure in western societies questions the relationship between these activities and the career choice of adolescents. This article provides a model for conceptualizing the strategies for conciliating art and sport leisure with career that identifies four different profiles: determined, hedonists, pragmatics and proactive. Most appropriate career counseling interventions for each profile are presented. Particular attention is paid to the method of motivational interviewing (Miller & Rollnick, 2013) and to the identification of transferable skills. The links with the preparation strategies for career transitions is discussed.
