Résumé
In order to detect latent fingerprints on a particular surface, the fingerprint technician must employ an appropriate sequence of physical or chemical techniques. These techniques must be carefully chosen and applied in a specific, predetermined order, if optimum results are to be obtained. A computer program, using expert system technology, has been developed to facilitate the choice of a particular fingerprint detection sequence given the nature and state of the surface under investigation. The software also serves as a central database for operating conditions, reagent formulations, and miscellaneous information for each detection method.
