This article discusses the question of living together in the frame of teachers’ training, from an ethicist and political philosopher’s point of view. We aim to define what education to autonomy and ethics of freedom could be nowadays. The minimum imperatives and the plural potentialities of the living-together of tomorrow are thus sketched out. Teachers must be able to contribute adequately to the preparation of young people for these challenges. Three discussions on the capacity of such a proposal, of neo-Tocquevillian inspiration, to ensure the sustainability of democratic societies are then initiated.
