Abstract
Beside minor physiological differences, and surprisingly lower mean norepinephrine doses, management of older patients suffering from brain-death was not different to that of younger patients. Patients from aged 53 to 62 years had the largest number of organ transplanted, due to a low rate of refusal or medical incompatibility. The oldest patient (≥63 years donated) the same number of organs than younger patients. Thus, from an intensive care perspective, management of old organ donor appears feasible, and may contribute to alleviate organ shortage.
