Abstract
This article discusses a philosophically individualistic criticism of the notion of seduction. Nowadays, seduction deserves ethical reflection in connection with education, particularly regarding issues that arise when dealing with the concept of gender. First, essential distinctions between education, seduction and authority are initially posed. The second part of the article specifies how this statement fits into a perspective of education towards autonomy, the latter gaining, heuristically and ethically, from integrating questions and issues of gender. Finally, we develop a criticism of seduction as a mean to establish relationships between individuals. We seek to propose an alternative to seduction that is both promotable in the context of education concerned with gender and ethics issues, and also more compatible with the aim of placing the achievement of individual autonomy at the heart of education, and a social ideal to be pursued.
