Using the Calvinian theory of interest, this note examines the doctrine of predestination as one of the possible origins of the progressive elaboration of the concept of rational agent, one of the central pieces of the modern theory of prices based on the logic of exchange (of which the rate of interest is ultimately only a derivation).
