Abstract
PURPOSE/AIM: The purpose of this exhibit is: 1. TO review useful imagINg modalities IN the diagnosis of microscopic and macroscopic tumoral, septic, catheter, cement, IVC filter, mercury, and air pulmonary embolus. 2. TO revise all imagINg modality fINdINgs from plaIN radiography TO the pulmonary angiogram, with special emphasis on multi-detecTOr CT.
CONTENT ORGANIZATION: Nonthrombotic pulmonary embolism is an unfrequent condition. The thoracic MDCT imagINg features identified IN cases of microscopic and macroscopic tumoral, septic, catheter, cement, IVC filter, mercury, and air embolus will BE descriBEd. PlaIN radiographic, ventilation perfusion scINtigraphic, and pulmonary angiographic fINdINgs will also BE reviewed. Key clINical and imagINg fINdINgs of nonthrombotic pulmonary embolus that distINguish it from thrombotic pulmonary embolus are discussed.
SUMMARY: UPon completINg this exhibit, the INdividual should BE familiar with the spectrum of nonthrombotic pulmonary embolus, and have the ability TO use key poINts from this presentation TO identify and distINguish it from thrombotic pulmonary embolus.
