Abstract
Gastric cancer is the fifth most common cancer worldwide, with nearly a million new cases diagnosed annually and a major health burden. Nearly 1,000 new cases are recorded annually in Switzerland, the bulk of which occur in males. This study considers surgical results and long- term survival related to partial and total gastrectomy. Specific focus is given to the differing prognostics of tumors originating in the proximal gastric region as opposed to those in the distal region. Based on the anatomical location and the type of surgery, it compares outcomes and therapies. There were 156 Patients treated at Lausanne University Hospital from January 2007 and December 2019 who were retrospectively evaluated. As found, depending on the tumor location, the necessitation of individualized standards variance, which indicates the existence of innate differences in tumor biology.
