The thesis deals with the legal framework for companies in the experience economy. This economic sector is generally considered to offer a high potential for value and growth, especially in the developed western economies. Bythe example of the economic exploitation of sporting events and concerts in the spectator's market, the legal requirements for a successful commercialization of experiences are illustrated from a law and economics perspective. On the basis of the Property Rights Theory and with a view to the particularities of experiences as economic goods, the author analyses the legal requirements in regard to possible property rights on the various levels of the market based exploitation process. lt becomes apparent that experiences as economic goods feature certain characteristics which present specific challenges for the legal system to provide fortheir smooth integration into the market system.
