This article is a contribution to the literature on pre-hospital emergencies. It presents the results of a qualitative investigation into the views and experiences of the beneficiaries of the mobile emergency teams set up in the canton of Vaud. The study shows that the services are appreciated by the beneficiaries, that they are integrated into the care network and care trajectories, and that they make up for the unavailability of the healthcare system. Beneficiary satisfaction is based on the seamless integration of interventions into care trajectories, and on a non-standardized care model that allows nurses the time they need to apply their skills. Finally, the study shows that EMUs are a response to what we propose to call the interstitial emergencies.
