This article focuses on the two issues of the translating journal edited by the pair Edward Gibbon and his friend from Lausanne Georges Deyverdun when the latter was staying in England, If it remains impossible to assign the various parts of the periodical to either one or the other, what matters is its unique perspective on English literature and theatre from a Francophone perspective clearly distinct from French aristocratic taste.
