This study was commissioned by the city of Zurich. Based on the history of two properties in Zurich's old town that have "M" inscribed on their facades, it examines how the M concept has changed since the medieval Crusades, through the period of the slave trade and colonialism, to the current "raceless racism" in German-speaking Europe - and what role the Zurich Reformation, academia, theater and media played in it.
