Abstract
Roman citizenship was theoretically granted to the entire population of Transpadane Gaul in 49 B.C., but many inscriptions seem to testify that in the imperial age there were still several people and communities who used to present themselves with various indigenous onomastic formulas. In this contribution, several cases are presented in which the juridical interpretation of onomastic formulas is particularly difficult or ambiguous.
