Abstract
This article examined the validity of the French translations of the long (EPCD-53) and short
(EPCD-25) versions of the Emotional and Personality-related Career Decision-Making
Difficulties Questionnaire. Results of the confirmatory factor analyses conducted on a Swiss
sample of 322 students support the structural validity of the EPCD-25. Although the structure
model underlying the EPCD-53 fit the data less, the correlations of its scores with those of the
EPCD-25 indicate that they measure the same constructs. Moreover, the correlations of the
EPCD-25’s categories (i.e., Pessimism, Anxiety, and Identity and Self-Concept) with the Career
Decision-Making Difficulties Questionnaire (CDDQ) show that the dimensions of Pessimism
and Anxiety are mostly linked to the presence of Unreliable Information, while Identity and
Self-Concept is associated with Indecisiveness. Implications for research and practice are
described.
