Abstract
With the improvement of noninvasive imaging, the cardiology community has to learn how to exploit properly the novel diagnostic tools in order to pursue an accurate diagnosis and better patient management. In the past decade, cardiovascular magnetic resonance has been recognized as a valuable means of studying and characterizing cardiac disorders. Notably, with the improvement of functional and contrast-enhanced imaging, cardiovascular magnetic resonance has achieved excellence in the depiction of cardiac abnormalities, providing clinicians and researchers with a unique, comprehensive approach. This review focuses on the added value of cardiovascular magnetic resonance over other conventional techniques in the diagnosis and management of the most common cardiomyopathies.
